| wave goodbye to waste |
An experiential sleeping cabin constructed primarily from discarded material treasures (otherwise known as waste) which, combined creatively, form a unique, dynamic architectural object.
The inspiration for the design was a multitude of varied sized polyester resin blocks intercepted on their way to landfill - a combination of test pieces, offcuts and excess material casts, a culmination of approximately three years’ worth of residue from a local art and design production workshop.
The cabin’s simple, logical form and complementary materials harness the intrinsic properties and colour of the source material. A feature wall of blocks illuminated by natural and artificial light creates an ethereal atmosphere both day and night, inside and out.
An enlightening experience in the cultural corner of the west of Rotterdam.
