| an evening glow |
An experiential sleeping cabin constructed from 95% discarded and purposefully reclaimed material treasures, reimagined and combined creatively to form a rewarding, dynamic architectural object.

The inspiration for the entire concept was the discovery and acquisition of multiple various-sized polyester resin blocks intercepted on their way to a landfill. These remnants, including test pieces, offcuts, and excess material casts, were accumulated over several at a local art and design production workshop.

With minimal intervention, the residue and redundant blocks now have a renewed life and purpose as the defining feature of this contemporary object. The cabin displays a logical regular form, clean-cut lines, minimalistic detailing, and complementary materials that highlight the intrinsic qualities of the resin material. Illuminated by either natural or artificial light, the feature block wall takes on a magical glow day and night - an enlightening experience in the cultural heart of western Rotterdam.
